Nigeria (HEPAN) managed and administered by Home Economics Council of Nigeria (HECON).
Home Economics Professional Association of Nigeria (HEPAN) is the professional body of all Home Economics practitioners and subdivisions. Home Economics Council of Nigeria (HECON) founded in the year 2000 in preparation for the XXth World Congress of International Federation for Home Economics (IFHE) held in Africa (Lagoon Accra, Ghana). HECON is the administrative Manager of the association comprising the Trustee members and the Executive body that manages Home Economics Professional Association of Nigeria (HEPAN) as obtained and addressed in other profession. HEPAN comprises all Home Economics Professional and Practitioners existing in Nigeria and Presidents of all other associations of Home Economics as members of the executives.

Home Economics Professional Association of Nigeria (HEPAN) is fully registered with the Cooperate affairs commission (CAC) of Nigeria under the companies and allied matters Act No. 1 of 1990 Part C with a focus to collaborate with all Home Economics organizations and associations in Nigeria for the purpose of delivering the object of the mission for which Home Economics stands as a Profession and Subject discipline. It will take into cognizance all the perspectives of International Federation for Home Economics (IFHE) as spelt out in the mission statement as the world single professional body for Home Economics.

The functions of HEPAN are encompassing in harnessing the activities of Home Economics in Nigeria to ensure that the discipline receive renewed attention from the Federal, State, and Local government such that individuals, families and communities feel the attraction and impact of Home Economics professional practice in the entire environment. Moving into technological advancement, Home Economics is empowered through research, training and development to lift up the images of professionals and practitioners as a way of promoting leadership, mentoring and possible linear personality progression. It is the view of the Council that members become professionals by practice and exhibit the characteristic dynamics of a Home Economics Professional.

The focus is to receive positive renewed attention from the government, (Federal Ministry and States Ministries of Education; National Universities Commission (NUC); National Board for Technical Education (NBTE); National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) Agricultural Management Council of Nigeria (AMCN), National Teachers Institute (NTI) and other supervisory agencies to manage Home Economics discipline as “OUR” profession. It is hoped that very soon Home Economics in Nigeria will get her rightful place and enjoy the conviviality of disseminating the objectives to the entire community accordingly.

We must congratulate ourselves at this point for having not to condescend to be relegated to mere cooking and sewing as it is generally perceived by the public rather competing with managing the encompassing challenges in the families and communities.
